2024 Stranraer Oyster Festival Blended Malt Scotch Whisky OYSTER STOUT CASK FINISH
As seen on BBC’s Countryfile featuring the Stranraer Oyster Festival!
Blended by Nick Bullard at the Moffat Distillery, to celebrate the beautiful town of Stranraer and the natural surroundings of Loch Ryan, which is one of Britain’s rare native oyster beds.
In the summer of 2023, one of our empty whisky hogsheads journeyed to Langholm so that Borderlands Brewery could age their oyster stout. In May 2024, our hogshead returned to us empty and we promptly filled it with our award-winning Stranraer Oyster Festival blend. After marrying for 3 months, the cask had transformed the original blend into something remarkable. We hope you enjoy.
TASTING NOTES:
Nose: smoldering embers give way to dry wood, french toast, maple syrup and cherry pipe tobacco.
Palate: smoke at first but then dissolves into tones of black forest gateau, burnt orange, toasted malt and hints of raw cacao bean.
Finish: medium-long, slightly chewy with warm spices and apricot.
Non-Chill filtered, no added colour, 46% ABV.
May not be suitable for vegans or those with shellfish allergies.
