Stranraer Oyster Festival Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 2025

Created for the 2025 Stranraer Oyster Festival, our blended malt Scotch is inspired by the fresh, local oysters celebrated each year at the best food festival in Dumfries and Galloway. 

This year, we've worked with Sulwath Brewers in Castle Douglas to create a Scottish ale cask-finished blend. Using their Knockendoch ale, they filled one of our casks to barrel age the beer. Then after emptying it, the cask came back to the Moffat Distillery where we filled it with our original Stranraer Oyster Festival blend. 

The result is a savoury, full-bodied dram.

On the nose: soft peat surrounds lemon peel and vanilla bean with a slightly medicinal feel.

On the palate: toasted marshmallows, bitter orange and tobacco leaf. Slightly bitter and some turmeric.

The finish: soft, lingering smoke, coffee with a touch of aniseed. A full-bodied dram.
